How Was This Animation Accomplished?

Animated gifs are quite limited in their use. While providing some visually dynamic images, they can be distracting. At worst, they can be annoying. When I first started experimenting with them I sought to find a way around their limitations. The challenge was to come up with a solution to the timing and file size constraints. How do you use the tool and not have it look like an endless animation cycle? Or how can you give it some timing variety?
Solution: Create multiple animated gifs. Each with different timing.
